Robert Simpson Hackett (Bob)

Gentian Hill, Salthill, Galway

Formerly of Kerry, Cork, Dublin, birthplace Birr, Co. Offaly and retired from G.G.S.I.

 

On Friday, 3rd October 2025 Bob completed his life’s journey surrounded by family in the care of the staff at the Galway Clinic. Dearly loved by his wife Mary and children David, Sandra, Roslyn, Howard and Mary’s daughter Marita. Predeceased by his wife Doreen and brother Charlie.

Deeply mourned by Mary and family, sisters Desirée and Ethel, daughters-in-law Heather and Assumpta, sons-in-law Paddy, James and Greg; a very proud grandfather and great grandfather who will be sadly missed by all and fondly remembered by his nephews and nieces, relatives and friends.

Funeral Arrangements

Monday, 6th October 2025

Bob will lie in repose at the O’Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue from 4.30 p.m. arriving at St. Nicholas Collegiate Church at 7 p.m.


Tuesday, 7th October 2025
A Funeral Service will be celebrated for Bob at 10.30 a.m. and he will be laid to rest in the new cemetery, Bohermore. Live streaming link https://m.youtube.com/@st.nicholascollegiatechurc4337/streams

Fr. Burke Park entrance to the funeral parlour is closed at present for ground works.
Street parking possibility on Fr. Griffin Road, The Claddagh, Sea Road, Henry Street and can be scarce on Munster Avenue.
