RODNEY THOMPSON
RODNEY THOMPSON, Religious Hermit, has died peacefully at Oaklodge Nursing Home in Churchtown South, East Cork, on January 14th 2024. Formerly a monk of Downside Abbey, Somerset, UK. Thirty years a hermit in Roundstone, ten years sacristan in Clifden, Co. Galway and regular visitor to the family home at Ballintubbrid, Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork. Deeply loved by sister Pam, brother Ken, brother in law Edward, nephews David, Ben, Peter, Matthew, Philip, James, Simon and niece Lucy.
Sadly missed by extended family and close friends in Connemara and Cork.

Rodney’s family would like to thank the wonderful carers at Oaklodge Nursing Home for the exceptional care given to Rodney over the past year of his illness.
Rodney will repose at Hyde's Funeral Home, Midleton, Co. Cork, on Wednesday 17th between 6 and 7.30pm.
Requiem Mass at 2pm on Thursday 18th in St Mary’s Church, Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork, after which Rodney will be laid to rest with his parents, Geoffrey and Eileen Thompson, at Carrigtwohill Cemetery.
