The death has occurred of Seán Corcoran, Buxton, Derbyshire, formerly of Drogheda, Co. Louth. On May 3rd 2021, quietly, after a short illness, at home with his wife Vera who brought him much happiness over the last eight years. He will be sadly missed by Vera; by his children Rósa and Fiachra and their mother Helen, his daughter Jess, daughter-in-law Veritia and granddaughter Sadhbh; sister Claire and brother-in-law Dave, brothers Colin and Terry and sister-in-law Deirdre and nephews Finn, Cian, Conor and Liam; Vera’s daughter Gillian, son-in-law Paddy and grandchildren Rory and Emily; Vera’s son Simon and his partner Jordan; relatives in the Corcoran and Quigley lines in Drogheda, Meath and overseas; and many friends made over a lifetime of performing and researching Irish traditional music and song and through his long involvement in local history as a founder member of the Old Drogheda Society.

 

Removal to Macclesfield Crematorium on 13th May at 10:40 a.m. for a brief ceremony respecting Covid-19 regulations. A larger gathering of friends to remember Seán will be organised later in the year when travel in Ireland becomes freer.
