On Friday 30th January 2026, after a long illness bravely borne with dignity and strength. Seán died peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff at Galway University Hospital, with his loving family by his side.

Deeply missed and mourned by his devoted wife of 55 years Maura, much loved son Seán and daughter Aileen, daughter-in-law Sinéad and his three adored grandchildren Caragh, Niamh and Seán of whom he cherished dearly.

Fondly remembered and dearly missed also by his sister Carmel, niece Ann, the extended Walsh family, neighbours and friends, especially his cousin Johnny and good neighbour Mary Ann in Recess.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr David Breen and his team especially Helen and Donna and all at Galway Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Seán and all the Walsh family.

Funeral Arrangements

Tuesday 3rd February

Seán will lie in repose at St. Pio’s Room within the grounds of the Church of the Sacred Heart, Seamus Quirke Road from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

 

Wednesday 4th February

Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Seán on arrival at the Church at 11am. Following Mass, a private cremation will take place at Shannon Crematorium. Livestreaming : This Mass will be live streamed here

Family Flowers Only and House Private Please. Donations, if desired, may be made in memory of Seán to the Galway Hospice Foundation here.

Beidh sé go mór faoi bhrón agus faoi easpa ag a bhean chéile dhílis le 55 bliain, Maura, ag a mhac Seán agus a iníon Aileen, ag a iníon-chéile Sinéad, agus ag a thriúr garchlann, Caragh, Niamh agus Seán, a raibh grá ar leith aige dóibh.

Cuimhneoidh a dheirfiúr Carmel, a neacht Ann, clann mhór Walsh, chomh maith le comharsana agus cairde, air le grá agus le cumha.

​​​​​​​Déanfar Aifreann na Sochraide do Sheán ar theacht chuig an eaglais ag 11.00am. Ina dhiaidh sin, beidh créamadh príobháideach i gCréamatóiriam na Sionainne.
