It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Shane McCarthy, who left this world peacefully surrounded by his loving family on 27th of December 2025, in the tender care of the staff on the Oak Ward.

 

Predeceased by his grandparents, Rita and Michael O'Neill, Maura and Michael McCarthy, uncles Tony and Anthony.

Shane was loved and adored by his wife Donna and his three sons Dylan, Finnian and Culann who were his pride and joy.

Shane will be sadly missed by his mother Carol, father Noel, brother Eoin, sisters Noelle and Lauren, Finnian’s partner Aoibheann, godchildren Lottie and Liam, aunts, uncles, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, extended family and friends.

 

May He Rest in Peace.

 

Reposing at Thompson's Funeral Home, Barrack St, Waterford on Monday (29th December) from 3:00pm to 5:00pm with vigil prayers and Rosary at 4:30pm.

 

Requiem Mass on arrival in the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Butlerstown on Tuesday (30th December) at 12 noon followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

 

Mass will be livestreamed at 12 noon on Tuesday by following the Funeral Service link below.

 

Donna and the boys would like to thank Dr. Caitriona Goggins, Dr. Denise Hayes, Mr. Skinner, Dr. Lorna Keenan, all the oncology team in Waterford and the staff in St. Luke’s, Rathgar, Dublin for the care and kindness shown to Shane.
