Sheila Frances Hourihan
(née O’Sullivan)

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Sheila Frances Hourihan (nee O’Sullivan), age 87, of Summerfield, Florida (formerly of Carmel, NY) on November 1, 2024.

 

Frances was born on December 14, 1936, in Baurgorm, Bantry, Co. Cork, Ireland to Denis & Julia O’Sullivan. She emigrated to New York at the age of 18. Frances married the love of her life Daniel Hourihan at St Francis of Assisi Church in Brooklyn, NY on October 19, 1957, and they were blessed with six amazing children.

 

Frances was predeceased by her husband Dan in January of 2021 and will be deeply missed by her loving children, Kathleen Shannon, Joseph & Eilish Hourihan, Maureen & Kieran Ennis, Daniel Hourihan, Sheila & Dave Roberts, Kevin & Mary Hourihan. She is also survived by 14 treasured grandchildren, Ryan (Tori) Shannon, Brendan (Molly), Mairead Hourihan, Ciara, Conor (Katelyn), Michael, Julia Ennis, Timothy, Daniel, Kellie Krepp (Matt), Brianna Hourihan, Ronan, and Colin Hourihan. As well as four great grandchildren, Connor and Evelyn Shannon, Shealyn Ennis, and Hudson Hourihan. Sadly, Frances is predeceased by her precious granddaughter, Meghan Hourihan. She is also predeceased by her twin brother Kevin, brother JJ, her sister Monica and son-in-law Kevin Shannon and survived by her sister Carmel Morahan of Galway, Ireland.

 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cargain Funeral Home, 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel, NY.

 

A Mass of Christian burial to honor and celebrate Frances’ life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024 at St. James the Apostle Church, 14 Gleneida Avenue, Carmel, NY. (Zoom link to follow).
