The death has occurred of
Sr. Claire McGovern
Peacefully in the tender care of the nurses and staff of
Innis Ree Lodge Nursing Home, Lanesborough on
Monday 12th January 2026.
Predeceased by her parents Lily and Patrick, her sister, Sr. Mary, her brothers, Padraig, Jimmy and Brian and her niece Marie Claire. Lovingly remembered by her sisters Margaret Murray (Moate) and Sr. Betty (Roscommon), sisters-in-law Catherine and Norah, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives, Sisters of Mercy Western Branch and many friends.
May Her Gentle Soul Rest in Peace
Reposing at Dún Mhuire, Lyster Street, Athlone (N37 E3V5) on Wednesday evening from 4pm with evening prayers at 5-15pm followed by removal to S.S. Peter & Paul’s Church, arriving at 6pm. Requiem Mass on Thursday at 11am in S.S. Peter & Paul’s Church followed by burial afterwards in the Convent Cemetery, Summerhill, Athlone (N37 T298).
