The death has occurred of
Sr. Loreto (Evelyn) McLoughlin
Sisters of Mercy, Stella Maria, Galway, Loughrea, Portumna, Woodford, Eyrecourt, Ballinasloe and Westport.
Sr. Loreto, formerly of Ballyglass, Ahascragh, Ballinasloe, died peacefully in Stella Maria, Rosary Lane, Taylors Hill, Galway on February 10th 2025. Predeceased by her parents, James and Ellen, her brothers Johnny and Tommie and her sisters Brid and Teresa. Deeply regretted and fondly remembered by her sister in law Mary, her nieces, nephews, nieces-in-law, nephews-in-law, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces, great grandnephews, and the Sisters of Mercy Western Province, in particular the community in Stella Maria.
Rest in Peace
In keeping with Sr. Loreto’s wishes, to aid in the silent teaching of medical students, her mortal remains will be removed to NUIG Donor Programme.
Unfortunately, due to a Covid outbreak in Stella Maria at this time, Evening Prayer and Mass of the Resurrection will be private to the community in Stella Maria and close family.
A public Mass to honour Sr. Loreto will be celebrated in her home parish, in St. Cuan’s Church, Ahascragh, Ballinasloe (H53 EH76) on Saturday, February 15th at 2pm.
