Stephen Lavelle (also known as ‘Trigger’), Ardmore, Binghamstown, Belmullet, Co. Mayo and formerly of Mullaghroe, Clogher, Belmullet peacefully at the Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar surrounded by his loving family and friends on 11th January 2026.
Predeceased by his parents Pat and Kate Lavelle and his brother John.
Beloved husband of Martina (née Padden), dear father of Patrick and Anthony and adored grandfather to James, Saorla, Ayla, Síomha, A.J., Paidí, Ellie and Fionán. He will be sadly missed by his wife, sons, grandchildren, daughters-in-law Marie and Rebecca, sisters Mary, Kathleen, Annie, Breege, Nora and Margaret, brothers Michael and Patrick, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives, kind neighbours and many friends.

Stephen will lie in repose at McDonnell’s Funeral Home, Belmullet on Thursday evening from 5 o’clock until 7 o’clock. Funeral will arrive at St. Joseph’s Church, Binghamstown on Friday afternoon for Funeral Mass at 1 o’clock followed by burial in Emlybeg Cemetery.
Livestreaming of the Funeral Mass will be available for viewing on McDonnell Funeral Directors Facebook page on Friday afternoon at 1 o’clock with all other funeral services available for viewing from 6 o’clock on Friday evening.
