Susan Scanlon
(née Baker)

(formerly of Bristol, England).

Susan slipped peacefully away on Wednesday 25th March 2026 aged 84 years surrounded by her loving family.

Pre-deceased by and reunited with her beloved husband Patrick Scanlon.

Much loved and sadly missed by her children John and Lisa, their partners Gail and Terry, and her cherished grandchild Ruari.

Susan will be fondly remembered by her family and friends in Ireland, England and Canada, her dedicated team of carers, former colleagues, the many children she taught throughout her career, her neighbours in Molahiffe, and her extended family.

Funeral cortège for Susan will arrive to St Gertrude’s Church, Firies on Wednesday morning April 15th at 10.50AM for Requiem Mass at 11.00AM. Burial will take place afterwards in Ardcrone Cemetery, Currans.

The family are deeply grateful for the support and kindness shown by all the medical staff who cared for Susan.

Originally from Bristol, Susan spent the last 30 years happily in Kerry. A dedicated teacher who truly loved her profession and the children she taught, Susan’s passion for sharing her skills continued long into her retirement through her volunteer sewing classes. She was happiest in her garden and will be remembered by all as a keen and gifted gardener.
