Tommy Dillon

The death has occurred of

Tommy Dillon

13 Pairc Mhuire, Bagenalstown, Carlow

Tommy was a true local, living in Pairc Mhuire with his mother Dolly, alongside their wonderful neighbours. He began his career at Keenan’s with his father Paddy and later worked as a draftsman in Kilcarrig Street with his friend Moling. He also spent time at the local pub Lawlor’s and The Little Shop nearby. He had a long-standing connection with Bagenalstown F.C., playing centre half for over a decade with his close brothers Michael and Pat for periods. After his playing days, he managed the club with the grateful aid of many others for over another decade. He managed many of Bagenalstown’s legendary players and managed his young nephews, Patrick, Jonathan and James for a brief period before retiring. For over 30 years, he shared a close bond at dinner with his sister Catherine and her husband Patsy in Dunleckney. He was a big music fan and brought bands like 'Thin Lizzy' to play in the local town hall. Every Saturday, he headed off to Dublin on the train to walk very briskly around the city streets and attend the cinema. Each year, he would travel to the sun in Europe with his Bagenalstown friends to explore the local history. He enjoyed his life and his cigarettes immensely, and he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him; including his sister, brothers, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, team-mates, neighbours, and work colleagues.

May Tommy rest in peace.
