Very Reverend Fr. Michael Madden

Very Reverend Fr. Michael Madden, East Ferry, Midleton, formerly of Churchtown, Mallow and Lismore, Co. Waterford.
On 20th January 2026 in his 92nd year, peacefully in the loving care of the doctors, nurses and staff of Cork University Hospital.

Predeceased by his loving parents John and Bridget, his brother Denis and his sisters Mary and Clara.

Fr. Michael will be deeply missed by his relatives Owen and Ken, his extended family Gael, Beth-Ann, Nie, Luca, Harry, Maeve and Michael, Bishop William Crean and the Priests of the Diocese of Cloyne, his neighbours, and wide circle of friends.

Fr. Michael gave generously of his life in service to God and to the communities he served, offering support, guidance and friendship to the people he served in Northampton, England and in the parishes of Doneraile, Midleton, Fermoy, Rathcormac, Blarney, Ballycotton, Mourneabbey and Castlelyons. He held each parish close to his heart and was grateful for the faith, friendship and welcome he received throughout his priesthood.

Fr. Michael will repose in O’Farrell’s Funeral Home, Riverside Way, Midleton (P25X382) on Thursday, 22nd January, from 5.00pm to 6.30pm.

Reception into St. Nicholas’ Church, Churchtown, Mallow on Friday, 23rd January, for 12.00 noon Funeral Mass, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
