William Connolly

Died peacefully at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin, on 14th February 2026, surrounded by love.

 

Beloved brother of Roseann, Barbara, Louise and Garry. William was a unique individual — a great sportsman with a lifelong passion for hurling and the GAA, gifted with a strong grasp of Gaelic and a formidable memory. A lovable rogue with a quick wit and a spark all his own, he brought humour, colour and character wherever he went. He lived his life with courage and dignity through challenges shaped both by his illness and by the times in which he was diagnosed, and he will be remembered with deep affection by all who knew him.

 

We are deeply grateful for the care and compassion shown to Will in his final days by the staff of St. Vincent’s Hospital, and for the kindness and support he received from the staff of Sugarloaf Care Home.

 

Will is now at peace, reunited with those gone before him. He leaves behind warm memories, stories, and a presence that will be held with tenderness by his family and friends.

Removal on Thursday morning (19th February) to the Church of the Three Patrons Rathgar arriving for 10am Funeral Mass followed by private cremation.
