William Hegarty

It is with deep sadness we announce the death of William Hegarty, Mayfield, Cork, who passed away on 11th of March 2026, peacefully surrounded by his loving family, in the wonderful care of the staff at Cork University Hospital. William (Willie) late of An Post. Dearly beloved husband of Sheila (née O’Keeffe) and adored father of Hilda and Ruth.

Sadly missed by his loving family, cherished grandchildren Andrew, Ben Megan, Emer and Conor, sons-in-law Niall and Micheál (Haulie), brother Richard, sisters-in-law Marguerite, Liz, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

William's Mass will now be live streamed

Reposing at Keohane’s Funeral Home, Knights Hill, Old Youghal Road, Mayfield, Cork, on Sunday, the 15th of March, from 3-4pm, with prayers at 3:45pm.
Requiem Mass on Monday, the 16th of March at 11:00am in The Church of Our Lady Crowned, Mayfield, which will be live streamed here followed by cremation at The Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy.

The family would like to thank Dr. Peter Kelly and the cardiac team, the nurses and staff of the CUH for their kindness and exceptional care shown to Willie during his illness.
