 Adam Kirwan

Mountrath, Laois

The family of the late Adam Kirwan of Derrough, Mountrath, Co. Laois who died tragically on the 02 March 2023, would like to take this opportunity on the anniversary of his sudden passing to thank most sincerely all those who sympathised with and supported us throughout our heartache and loss.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to our family and the many friends, neighbours and well - wishers who visited our home, attended the wake, service and burial and who provided emotional and practical support for us at this most difficult time. For those who telephoned, travelled long distances, sent floral tributes, cards and messages of condolences, wrote songs and poems in Adam’s memory and made charitable donations, we are truly grateful.

To the emergency services and  Gardai from Thurles, Portlaoise and Mountrath and all who attended to Adam on the night and to Fr. Stapleton who was also with him in his hour of need, we will be forever grateful.

To Trumera GAA, Laois GAA, the various clubs and communities, Gaeilscoil Tromaire, Mountrath Community School and MIC Thurles, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for showing us how truly cherished Adam was.

For all those who provided Guards of Honour on Adams final journey, he would have been so humbled and proud to see his beloved clubs, team mates and school mates show such love for him, thank you for taking that final journey with him just as you walked with and accompanied him through life.

Thank you to all those who brought refreshments and food,  to those who catered at our home and provided an unquantifiable amount of unknown work behind the scenes during those tumultuous days and also to Eddie Phelan and staff for their professionalism in providing the catering throughout the entire process. To those who organised parking, lighting, marquees, heating and to the Jackson family for the use of their field which allowed for so many to be with us in our time of sorrow.

Thank you to Seamus Burke - Funeral Director , his wife Mary Theresa Burke, to Robert Holmes and Joe Dollard also for the caring, sensitive and professional manner in which you supported us through such a difficult process.

To our work colleagues - St. Vincent’s Hospital Mountmellick, St. Vincent’s University Hospital Dublin and Munster Joinery thank you for the overwhelming understanding and care shown to us at all times.

A sincere thank you to those who made Adam's funeral service into such a meaningful and beautiful celebration of his life, thank you Fr. Joe Brophy, Fr. Kevin O’Neill (RIP), Fr. Stapleton, Fr. Michael Murphy and Fr. Joe O’Connor  and to the musicians Martin Delaney, Tadgh Kirwan and Joe Laffan.

It is impossible to thank everyone who helped us to carry our burden individually. Please know that although words can never express our gratitude, you are all forever deeply embedded in our hearts and minds. Your kindness, thoughtfulness, compassion and care gave us the strength we needed to get through our darkest days and continue to sustain us as we go forward. You are forever in our thoughts and prayers.
