Alf’s beloved partner and fiancée Sharon would like to thank everyone who has acknowledged his life since his untimely death in April.
To the consultants, doctors, nurses and staff in Bantry and Cork University Hospitals, and the paramedics who looked after him on the journey, thank you for your care, compassion, and relentless dedication.
A special thanks to Shay, Von and Sarah Lawless for being with Alf and Sharon in his final hours, and his funeral. He loved being part of the family, and his 'in-laws' for their generosity, sincerity, decency and grace. All the hugs, chats, messages, calls, cards, letters, flowers, visits, and gifts of remembrance mean so much as we deal with the loss of Alf.
Finally, thank you to our family, friends, neighbours, colleagues, acquaintances, and strangers who have shown the respect, kindness and integrity that was so important to Alf, how he lived his life, and how he'd like to be remembered.
A donation to one of Alf and Sharon's favourite charities will be made in acknowledgement of all your support.
Smile, though your heart is aching
Smile, even though it’s breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
you’ll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll see the sun come shining through
for you
Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That’s the time you must keep on trying
Smile what’s the use of crying
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you’ll just
Smile
