COOLMAIN, KILBRITTAIN, CO.CORK

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT and FIRST ANNIVERSARY

DIED 17th September 2024

The family of ANNE  - her parents Ed and Trióna, her sisters Kate, Tessa and Emma, her grandfather Eamonn, her aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family would like to sincerely thank all those who have supported us on the sudden and tragic loss of our beautiful girl last September.

Thank you to Anne’s huge circle of treasured friends, who at such a young age, have shown such strength and courage throughout a difficult year. We will forever remember the sky lanterns released at Coolmain after her funeral, walking Darkness into Light by your sides last May, the beautiful school memorial ceremony and beach candlelight tribute to Anne to mark her first anniversary.

No words are enough to thank the entire parish of Kilbrittain who have shown us the true meaning of community.

We were deeply moved by the volume of touching tributes, cards, condolences and letters and would like to thank everyone who came to Anne’s Removal and Funeral Mass, called with food or sent flowers and messages of support.

To our wonderful neighbours of Coolmain and Granasig, thank you for all you have done for our family. We will never forget the candles lighting all the way up Coolmain Hill under the stars, on her journey home from Timoleague and the Guard of Honour to her beloved Coolmain beach, before her final journey to Kilbrittain.

Thank you to Fr. Pontianus Jafla and Fr John Newman for Anne’s Funeral, Month’s Mind and First Anniversary masses, to the Kilbrittain Folk Group for the beautiful songs, the Parish Council and for all who brought food and helped at Kilbrittain Hall.

Thank you to all the students and staff at Anne’s wonderful school, Coláiste na Toirbhirte, her friends from Hamilton High School and surrounding schools, her work ‘family’ from the West Cork Secret, her friends from Kilbrittain-Timoleague Camogie Club and all those who formed a Guard of Honour and gave Anne such a respectful and beautiful send off.

Thank you to funeral directors, John Michael and Denise Foley, and Kieran Butler for their guidance throughout the funeral.

We would like to thank the emergency services who helped us, in particular Dr Jason van der Welde of West Cork Rapid Response and Eamonn Barry of the Irish Coastguard.

Sincere thank you to Caitríona O’Riordan and staff of O’Riordan’s Pharmacy, Enniskeane and Dr. Annemarie McGinley and all at the Weir Health Centre.
