 Anthony Lomas

6 Mount Crozier, Cobh, Cork

Remembering with love and cherished memories, Anthony Lomas, Mount Crozier, whose first anniversary occurs on 11th September 2021.

Catherine, Eric and Jack, together with Pam, Norma and Sharon, would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all who helped, supported and sympathised with us on our great loss. We would like to start with Dr George Fitzgerald and his staff who cared for Anthony as a new patient and supported our family with a kindness and professionalism that went way above his duty. Thank you to our local public health nurses for the regular visits to our home making Anthony’s care more manageable while at home. We would like to thank the medical and nursing teams of St Brigid’s Ward of the Mercy Hospital, Dr Derek Power, his wonderful team and Marymount Hospice who looked after Anthony in such a caring, gentle and compassionate manner.   To Fr Tom McDermott and Fr Tony Wickham for their ongoing spiritual and pastoral supports offered to us on a regular basis, which brought Anthony and ourselves such reassurance and peace of mind.  The funeral Mass on the day was enhanced by the beautiful hymns sung by John Daly and music by Dominic Finn. We would also like to thank John for the graveside tribute that was very personal to Anthony.

We thank An Post Cobh for their thoughtful gesture and guard of honour at the Cathedral grounds.   We would like to express our gratitude to Michael and the staff of Newtown Pharmacy for their help, advice and assistance. Thank you to Ger Curley, Jack Doyles, Danny Murphy of Centra Cobh,Truly Scrumptious and our very generous friends and neighbours for food provided.

We just have to say how grateful we were that Anthony had such fantastic friends, from way back to his schooldays, onto work colleagues, Tuesday night film family, family friends and onto his more recent camera club friends. I just don’t know how to thank you all enough for your loyalty, commitment and dedicated visits to him.  He was overwhelmed with the contact and thoughts, either through visits, phone calls, messages, gifts, cards or otherwise, that you all consistently made, and all of this lifted his spirits each time.

Thank you to James Cahill, funeral director and his staff for their sensitive, efficient, professional and yet personal service they provided in the handling of the funeral arrangements.

To our amazing family, friends, kind neighbours and supportive work colleagues, we would like to say a huge thank you. It would be impossible to name everyone, but we hope you all realise how much your enormous support has helped us through, and how much we have depended on you all in the challenging months.  Saying thank you doesn’t even touch the surface of the love and appreciation we feel. The close bond that we knew we had with you all has proven its worth once again during this time.

To all those who were able to be with us, those who travelled, all who sent mass cards, cards and letters of condolence, flowers, and made donations to Marymount or to other charities on our behalf, we thank you very much.

The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has been offered for all your intentions and in gratitude to all.

Anthony’s first anniversary Mass will be on Saturday, 11th September, at 10am in St Colman’s Cathedral, Cobh. This mass will also be live streamed on www.cobhcathedralparish.ie.
