 Anthony Reidy

Rochestown, Cork / Knocknagoshel, Kerry

On the first anniversary of the death of a dear husband, father, son and brother, his wife Murie, children Ronan, Jonathan, Daniel, Lauren and Clare, parents Donie and Mary, brothers and sisters Norma, Mike, Bridget, Donal, Catherine, Una, Denis, Marie and Padraig, father in law Gerry, mother in law Teresa, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles and extended family, would like to acknowledge and express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who sympathised with us on our sad loss and for the kindness and support shown to us during Anthony’s short illness.

Thank you to all who sent Mass cards, lovely messages of condolence, to those who lined the road to Rochestown Church as a mark of respect and to the thousands of people from all parts of the world who joined the funeral Mass online with us. Thanks to Douglas GAA, Knocknagoshel GAA and his work colleagues from PWC (present and former, many of whom travelled from all over Ireland) who formed a Guard of Honour for him and An Garda Síochána who provided a Garda escort. Thanks to the Parents Association, staff and students from Gaelscoil na Duglaise, St Francis College Rochestown, Douglas Hall soccer club and staff from UCC for their support and kindness and to all who donated to charity.

We are grateful to the medical teams in University Hospital Cork, Marymount University Hospital and Hospice, Dr Greg Murphy, Dr Jean O’Connell and staff of Rochestown clinic and Horgan’s pharmacy who helped take care of Anthony. We are especially grateful to two night nurses from the Irish Cancer Society – Eileen Crosbie and Marnie Lane for their kindness, compassion and support and in going beyond the call of duty helping us to look after Anthony in his own home, surrounded by family during his final weeks. Also, to the day nurses from Marymount Anna and Susan and HSE nurses Deirdre and Sandra.

We would like to thank Fr Pat O’Mahony, Fr Sean O’Sullivan and Fr Con Cronin (RIP) who visited Anthony many times and for their support during his illness. Thank you to Fr Pat for officiating at the funeral Mass and burial. Thank you to the Sacristan, Jerh O’Connor undertakers who co-ordinated the removal and burial in such a professional manner, gravediggers and to Margaret Noonan for the music at the funeral Mass. Thank you to his many, many relatives, friends and clients for their support and to the partners and staff of PwC on both sides of the Atlantic for their huge support and in setting up the Anthony Reidy memorial run to keep Anthony's memory alive and raise much needed funds for Marymount.

Finally, to Anthony’s wonderful neighbours in Garryduff for the huge support given to the family during his illness and beyond. We truly appreciate it.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our deepest gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.

One silver lining from this cloud is that we should not fear, surrounded by unfortunate events family is always near.
