Aodán Moynihan (Ó Muimhneacháin)

 Aodán Moynihan (Ó Muimhneacháin)

Mullingar, Westmeath

The family of the late Aodán Moynihan would like to thank most sincerely all those who sympathised with us on our great loss.  We offer heartfelt thanks to all who attended Aodán's reposing, funeral mass and burial.  For those who telephoned, travelled long distances, sent floral tributes, cards and messages of condolence, we are truly grateful.

A special word of thanks to Prof. Tim Lynch, Dr. Neil Healy (Belview Clinic) and all the wonderful people (past and present) at Cluain Lir Care Centre.  We appreciate all the excellent care Aodán received.  Grateful appreciation to Milltown GAA for the guard of honour.  To Con and Tony at Gilsenan's Funeral Home, we greatly appreciate your professionalism, kindness and support.  Thanks also to Peter Murtagh (Clonkill) for preparing Aodán's final resting place.  Also, we wish to thank the staff at Bloomfield House Hotel for their hospitality on the day of Aodán's funeral.  We will always be grateful to Aodán's musical friends for the beautiful send off they gave him.  It was the perfect tribute to his lifelong love of traditional Irish music.

Thanks also to Fr. Norman Allred who was there with us throughout Aodán's final days, he was a source of enormous support and consolation.  Aodán's life was perfectly encapsulated within his beautiful funeral ceremony.  We also wish to thank the Emeritus Bishop Michael Smith and Fr. Kevin Ryan for their participation in the funeral ceremony.  To Fr. William Fitzsimons, our parish priest, for his graveside prayers and words of consolation.

To us, his family, Aodán will always be remembered for his dedication to the promotion of traditional Irish music and for his love of sport and culture.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.

Aodán's first anniversary mass will be held on October 29th at 11am in Milltown Church.
