ACKNOWLEDGEMENT – BERNIE COLLIER

The family of the late Bernie Collier, Ballydonnell, would like to sincerely thank all our family, friends, neighbours, colleagues and visitors who offered their condolences, kindness and support during this very difficult time. It meant so much to bring Mum home to BallyDonnell for those few days so that everyone could come and say their final goodbyes. The incredible turnout was a true reflection of the spark she had and the many lives she touched — a spark we know will live on in all of us. Like everything she was involved in, it truly became an event. We are deeply grateful to the family and friends who swooped in and filled our home with love and hospitality — organising parking, outdoor lighting, flowers, catering and groceries; keeping meals, drinks, teas and coffees flowing; looking after the younger ones, writing cards and letters, sharing stories and offering endless hugs. You carried us through those difficult days.

We would especially like to thank our colleagues in M&P Mechanical, ESW and Dan Kelly’s for their constant support throughout Bernie’s illness. Your kindness and understanding meant so much. Thank you to our extended family — our uncles, aunties and cousins — and to the friends and neighbours who continually checked in and supported us. Mum adored you all. Our sincere thanks to Fr Paul for his compassion and for the beautiful send-off in The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Termonfeckin, and to Gerry Mulroy for the poignant music which was such a fitting tribute.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the palliative care and oncology teams and to the staff of Boyne East and West in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital who cared for Mum as if she were part of their own family. Sincere thanks also to Townley’s Funeral Directors and to Jane Sheridan for the kindness and care shown to Mum and to our family. As it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our deepest appreciation. Your kindness, support and presence meant more to us than words can say.

Bernie is, and always will be, deeply missed. She would have loved the bright weather arriving now. So, if you see the flowers and plants — buy them and plant them in her memory. Eat the cake, drink the wine, book the holiday — and most importantly, live a simple life and have fun. Bernie had a way of turning ordinary days into something special — and if she taught us anything, it was to enjoy the simple things, mind each other well, and never miss a chance for a laugh.

Bernie’s Month’s Mind Mass will be held on Saturday, 28th March at 7:30pm in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Termonfeckin.

Warmest Regards,

Maps
