 Brian O'Connor

Winetown, Rathowen, Westmeath

Brian’s sisters and the extended O’Connor family wish to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to all who have supported us and continue to support us as we travel our lonely journey of adjustment and sadness due to the loss of our beloved Brian.

We thank all who called to our home during Brian’s reposing and showed their love for him; sharing stories of their experiences and time with Brian down through the years. To all who phoned, sent text messages, flowers, cards and left their expressions of sympathy on the R.I.P. condolence page and Facebook.

When we left Brian’s home to make the final journey to the Church with him, we took immense comfort from the support, care and respect he and his family were shown by those who stood by the roadside from his home to St. Mary’s Church; from the large crowd that was waiting at the church for us and from those who were on the roadside from the church to the cemetery. Thank you to all who joined us online for Brian’s funeral Mass. There is no telling of the love and support we drew from you all.

We thank Fr. Nigel Charles who called to Brian’s home daily to offer prayers and support during his reposing and for the beautiful, spiritual funeral Mass he celebrated for Brian, together with Monsignor Bernard Noonan and Fr. Tom Healy. Also to Monsignor Pat Early and Fr. Peter Beglan who were present at the cemetery.

Our sincere thanks to Gogan Funeral Directors. Patrick, you could not have been more caring for Brian during his final days at home. Your professional and gentle handling of all the arrangements were exemplary. Thank you to those you employed to prepare Brian’s final resting place and the livestreaming of his Funeral Mass.

To Collette Brady McEntee, a sincere thank you for the beautiful singing and music which greatly enriched the spirituality of the ceremony.

We thank the staff at Mullingar Regional Hospital who cared for Brian during his final weeks, An Garda Siochana and members of the community who assisted in maintaining road safety during the funeral procession and arrival at St. Mary’s Church.

It is impossible to thank everyone individually but please know that whatever part you played will always be remembered with sincere gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of Mass will be offered for all your intentions.

Brian’s months memory Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, Rathowen on Saturday 28th August at 11am. God Bless all.
