Billy, Barry and Kathryn would like to thank all relatives, neighbours and friends who were so kind to Bridget and ourselves during her illness and after she passed away on 2nd January 2022. Thanks to all those who visited the funeral parlour, attended her requiem mass, travelled to Mount Jerome crematorium, especially those who made long journeys to be with us. All arrangements were beautifully made by Joanne Cooney and her team. Thanks to Fr Tom Orr, Mons. Joe McGrath and Fr Willie Byrne, The Slater Family, and the readers. Thank you to all who sent flowers, mass cards and expressions of sympathy. A special thanks to all those who kindly brought food and refreshments to us during this time.
A sincere thanks to the board of management, staff, band members and the entire Cumas community, for the love, honour and respect they showed to Bridget in life and in death. Bridget enjoyed a wide circle of friends during her lifetime, with The Active Retirement Group being an important part of her retirement years, she immensely enjoyed the friendships and her involvement in their activities. She would have been proud of the guards of honour provided at her funeral mass.
Thanks to Oncologist Ann Horgan, her team and all the Nurses and Staff at University Hospital Waterford, for the wonderful care and kindness offered to Bridget during her illness. We are grateful to all staff who ensured that we got to visit Bridget daily in hospital at a time of severe restrictions.
We owe a debt of gratitude to all those who helped to care for Bridget at home, the County Wexford Palliative Care team, the District Nursing team, Dr Tom Walsh, HSE Carer team and in particular, the Irish Cancer Society Night Nurses, Jessica and Louise. A special thanks to Bernie, Sandra and Catherine, without whom we would not have been able to care for Bridget at home, their kindness will remain with us.
We received goodness and kindness from so many, it’s impossible to name everyone, but we as a family will be eternally grateful for your support and friendships.
Bridget’s ashes were laid to rest on 18th April 2022 in a private ceremony in St. Stephens Lawn Cemetery, New Ross. 1st Anniversary Mass will be held on Tuesday 3rd January in Mount Carmel Church at 8am.
