Precious memories of my beautiful wife,

mother, grandmother, great-grandmother 

and friend to many.

 

Carmel, you’ll never be forgotten,

That simply cannot be,

As long as I am living,

I’ll carry you with me,

Safely tucked within my heart,

Your light will always shine,

A glowing ember never stilled,

Throughout the end of time.

No matter what the future brings,

Or what may lie ahead,

I know that you will walk with me,

Along the path I tread.

You showed us kindness in your gentle way,
When life feels hard, I stop and ask,

You faced so much with strength and grace,

We love to remember your laughter, your stories, your caring touch,

Today is full of memories of a Mam who was the best,

Those special memories that spring to mind

Of the fun we once had and the happiness,

If only we could sit a while,

Just like we used to do,

And to feel the love and the stories told

And the fun we would have laughing with you.

It broke our hearts to lose you,

And things will never be the same,

For in our hearts you hold a special place,

No one could ever fill.

Although you are gone, your love and guidance still guides me.

The strength you showed, taught me how to be strong.

The kindness you showed for others, taught me to have empathy for others.

The love you gave to Erin and Téa, taught me how to love my granddaughter and grandson.

The love you gave me, taught me how to love my girls unconditionally,

We carry you in our hearts, every second of every day,

Today is the anniversary of the day that we lost you

And for a time it felt as though my life had ended too.

But loss has taught me many things and now I face each day

With hope and happy memories to help me on the way.

Although I’m full of sadness that you're no longer here,

Your influence still guides me and I can still feel you near.

You are an angel living among us, sending messages on wings of doves,

Still showering us with kindness and sharing all your love.

Although you are no longer with us, your spirit is around, especially today,

Smiling down on every one of us and telling us your OK.

What we shared will never die, it lives within our hearts,

Bringing strength and comfort for the time we are apart.
