Catherine (Kathleen) McArdle

 Catherine (Kathleen) McArdle
(née McCullough)

Castleblayney, Monaghan

We, the family of Catherine, who passed away peacefully on the 17th February 2024, wish to acknowledge and express our heartfelt appreciation to the many expressions of sympathy and gestures of kindness and support shown to us following our recent loss.

Catherine’s daughters Tonia and Aisling, her son Cathal, sister Rose, and our families would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to all who attended in huge numbers to her wake, removal, funeral Mass and burial or watched the Mass online. We appreciate all the warm messages of condolences, phone calls, texts, letters, sympathy cards, mass cards and flowers. Thanks also to all those who gave donations, in lieu of flowers, St Vincent de Paul, Carrickmacross.

We thank Canon Michael Daly P.P. who celebrated Catherine’s requiem Mass in St. Lastra’s Church, Donaghmoyne, and for the Rite of Burial.

Thank you to the sacristan, readers, Eucharistic ministers, grave diggers, florists and those who helped with traffic management at Catherine’s home. Special thank you to the wonderful musician Barry Hughes for providing the beautiful and moving music at the removal and funeral Mass. Sincere thank you also to St Michael’s National School, Donaghmoyne Ladies GAA and the ladies of Mannan Castle Golf Club for the Guard of Honour.

Thanks to the management & staff of the Shirley Arms for their hospitality after the funeral.

We would like to acknowledge those who cared for Mam.  Thank you to her home help carers and in particular, Lorraine and Ann, without whom Mam couldn’t have remained at home until so close to the end. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses & staff of Market Square Surgery in Castleblayney and the staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, who looked after Mam so well for many years. Thank you also to the team at Sunhill Nursing Home, Termonfeckin, who brought such comfort, dignity and care to Mam's final days.

Our heartfelt thanks to Catriona and Padraig at Lonergan Funeral Directors, for taking care of our wonderful mother so respectfully and guiding us through the most difficult of days. You make such a sad situation a little better with your professionalism, unbelievable kindness and personal touches.

We are very conscious that many others helped Catherine in many different ways and though we have not named you here, as it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our deepest gratitude and know that your kindness will always be remembered.

The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered up for the intentions of all.

Catherine’s Months Mind Mass will be held on Sunday the 17th of March 2024 at 10am in St Lastra’s Church, Donaghmoyne.

Go raibh míle maith agaibh.
