Acknowledgement and First Anniversary

Died 18th July 2021

Clive Stokes

A much loved and sadly missed Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend.

As we lovingly remember Clive on the first anniversary of his passing, we would like to extend a thank you to all of you who sympathised and supported us before, during and since our time of sadness and loss.

To Clive’s many friends here in Ireland and abroad, especially in Thailand, you were such a huge part of his life. Thank you so much for making his 38 years so full of laughter and fun. He loved being one of the lads. His determination to live was an inspiration to us all.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to all relatives, friends and neighbours who attended Clive's funeral Mass or followed the ceremony online and those who lined the route or stood outside the church. Sincere thanks to Naas Athletic Club for their guard of honour, we were so moved by your lovely gesture.

Many thanks to Beaumont Hospital Day Oncology Ward and Naas Hospital Allen Ward staff for their care and treatment of Clive during his illness and of course St. Brigid's Hospice for their exceptional care of Clive and us, in his final weeks, for which we will always be thankful.

A special thanks to Fr. Liam Morgan for a beautiful funeral Mass and his pastoral care of Clive during his illness. To George Mullins, thank you for your sensitive and professional handling of arrangements.

Thank you to everyone who sent cards, flowers, letters or phoned us and for the lovely memories of Clive that were shared. We were deeply touched by your kindness.

To those who helped in any way, your contribution made our loss more bearable. As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our deepest gratitude.

And finally, to Clive. Although you left us far too young, we will love you every day, we will think about you every day and when we think about you, we will smile and say to ourselves that we are better people for having had you in our lives.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis. May he rest in peace

Clive's First anniversary Mass will be celebrated in The Church of the Irish Martyrs, Ballycane, Naas, on Wednesday 20th July 2022 at 7pm.

God saw you were getting tired,

When a cure was not to be,

He closed His arms around you,

And whispered, "Come to Me".

In tears we watched you sinking,

We watched you fade away,

And though our hearts were breaking,

We knew you could not stay.

A golden heart stopped beating.

Hard working hands at rest,

It broke our hearts to see you go,

God only takes the best.

Our hearts still ache with sadness,

and secret tears still flow.

What it meant to lose you,

No one can ever know.
