Con (Cornelius) Gilsenan

 Con (Cornelius) Gilsenan

Mullingar, Westmeath / Multyfarnham, Westmeath

Remembering Con on his First Anniversary

(20 November 2024).

His wife Joan, son Conor, daughter-in-law Megan, his sisters Mary and Therese, brothers Liam, Ber and Frank would like to thank most sincerely all those who sympathised with them on their great loss.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to our wonderful family, many friends, neighbours and well-wishers who visited our home, attended the removal and funeral, shared many memories and stories of Con and who provided emotional and practical support for us at this difficult time. For those who travelled long distances, sent floral tributes, cards and messages of condolences, we are truly grateful.

A special word of thanks to Fr Phil Gaffney, Most Rev Bishops and priests who kindly concelebrated the Funeral Mass, it was holy and moving and a fitting celebration of all that Con valued, enhanced by the beautiful music by Ger Lillis with Maeve, Helen and Bozena. Thanks also to the Rugby Club, former staff of Cons and businesses for the guard of honour, to the gravediggers and the cemetery committee. To Tony Quinn and our team, we are forever grateful for your support. A special thank you to Dr Liam Dalton, Dr Darwish, staff at St Elizabeth’s Oncology Unit at the MPH;  the Palliative Care Team, carers and staff at the Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar and Woods Pharmacy for their excellent care of Con.

To those who helped in any way, your contribution made our loss more bearable. As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our deepest gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.

The First Anniversary Mass for Con will be held on Sunday 23rd November at 12.30 pm in the Cathedral of Christ the King.

Though Con is deeply missed, his memory lives on.

May His Gentle Soul Rest In Peace

We think of things you used to say, and all that you would do.
At some point, every single day, our thoughts will turn to you.
No matter how life changes, no matter what we do,
A special place within our hearts is always kept for you.
