In Remembrance of

Gerry (1st Anniversary & Acknowledgement)

& his wife Kathleen Seale (née Collier) (2nd Anniversary)

We, the family of David Gerard (Gerry) Seale, Clonenagh, Mountrath, Co. Laois, who died on Tuesday, 14th March 2023, wish to acknowledge and express our heartfelt appreciation to the many expressions of sympathy and gestures of kindness and support shown to us following our second recent loss.

We also wish to remember at this time our mother Kathleen, who died on Monday, 31st January 2022.

Gerry and Kathleen’s sons Adrian, Colm, David and daughter Kathy and Gerry’s brother Tony, would like to thank everyone who called to the house for Gerry’s reposal and rosary. We appreciate all the warm messages of condolences, phone calls, texts, letters, sympathy cards, Mass cards and flowers.

We thank in a special way, Fr. Joe Brophy P.P. and Fr. P.J. Fitzgerald for providing Dad with comfort and support at home in his time of grief and to Fr. Fitzgerald who celebrated Gerry’s requiem mass on St. Patrick’s Day in St. Fintan’s Church, Mountrath and for the Rite of Burial. This was a very fitting tribute to Gerry who often loved to participate in pilgrimage climbs of Croagh Patrick, Westport, Co. Mayo.

Thank you to the readers, Eucharistic ministers, grave diggers, florists and those who helped with traffic management including An Gardaí Síochána. Special thank you to musicians Damien Bowe and Martina Cuddy for providing beautiful music and a moving rendition of Dad’s favourite song ‘Far Side Banks of Jordan’. Sincere thank you also to Trumera GAA for your Guard of Honour.

Thank you to Seamus Burke Funeral Directors, Mountrath for their sensitive and utmost professionalism in handling funeral arrangements.

The last year of Gerry’s life was extremely difficult battling cancer, Parkinson’s and the ultimately and tragic death of his wife Kathleen. We are forever grateful to our incredible relatives, cousins, wonderful neighbours, friends and our colleagues who visited Dad and comforted him.

We would like to acknowledge those who cared for Dad, both in the Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore and at home. This includes Dr. Nasim’s Oncology Team and Dr. Cushen’s Palliative Care Team. We wish to express our heartfelt appreciation to the incredible work of Dr. Phelan, Mountrath Health Centre for her diligence, professionalism and unwavering commitment to Dad’s care. Thank you to Beata, Irish Homecare and to Declan and Jessica, HSE Home Support Service and to Sabrina for helping to care for Dad at home, we are forever grateful and no words can express our deepest gratitude. Thank you to Leigha for providing rehabilitation support to Dad. Thank you to Mary Owens and all the nursing staff at Mountrath Health Centre, for assisting Dad at home with his needs. Sincere thank you to the staff of MiHealth Pharmacy, Portlaoise. Many thanks to the staff of Abbeyleix Community Nursing Unit for providing respite care to Dad.

We are very conscious that many others helped Gerry in many different ways and though we have not named you here, as it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our deepest gratitude and know that your kindness will always be remembered.

1st & 2nd anniversary masses will be held for both Gerry and Kathleen respectively on 16th March 2024 at 7 pm in St. Fintan’s Church, Mountrath, Co. Laois. All are welcome.

In Memory of Our Parents

When you think of our lives on earth, and all those loving years.
Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
