David (Mr. Music) Heaney

 David (Mr. Music) Heaney

Mallow, Cork

On this David’s first anniversary, we his family, daughter Eileen, sons Michael, Noel, David, Seamus and Dominic, and extended family would like to acknowledge the many expressions of sympathy and gestures of kindness shown to us all following our sad loss.

A special thanks to Canon O’Brien (Mallow), for his prayers, support and for the beautiful funeral Mass.  A sincere thanks to all of those who contributed to the music. It was a prayerful and musical celebration of a special dad, granddad and great-granddad. We also deeply appreciate the help and support received throughout the year from members of the Capuchin community.

We gratefully acknowledge all of you who could not attend dad’s funeral due to government restrictions, but who joined us remotely through church services for dad’s funeral Mass.  Thank you to everyone who phoned, sent text messages, Mass cards, sympathy cards, letters, and those who left messages of condolences on RIP.ie.

Many thanks to the members of an Garda Síochána, who organised and kindly escorted dad from St. Mary’s church, past his home in Glenanaar, through the town, and on to his final resting place in St. Gobnait’s cemetery at Gouldshill, Mallow.  We will never forget the truly overwhelming sight of our relatives, friends, neighbours, and colleagues, who lined the route to bid goodbye to Dad.   Your presence and thoughtfulness was very much appreciated and was a huge comfort to us at such a difficult time.

A special thanks to dad’s home-help’s, great neighbours, relatives, and friends who showed kindness and support over the years.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the very special staff and friends at Brookfield Care Centre, Leamlara, Co. Cork.  We are thoroughly grateful for the love, professional care, and kindness they extended to dad during his happy stay there.

Thank you to the church sacristan David Walsh, & O’Connell Funeral Directors, for their professional support, advice and empathy.  A very special thanks to Brendan O’Connell for his heartfelt trumpet tribute at the graveside, and to dad’s friends Eugene Cosgrove & Stephen Murphy for their coverage in the local papers.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, we hope you will accept this acknowledgement as a token of our sincere gratitude.

In thanksgiving, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered on Friday 11th at 10.00am, in St. Mary’s Church, Mallow.
