 Elizabeth (Lilly) Tinkler
(née Lalor)

Portarlington, Offaly / Portlaoise, Laois

Lily’s children, Jimmy, Barry, Ciaran, Sean and Therese, their father John, and their families wish to give all those who sympathised with them on their recent sad loss a heartfelt thanks. To all those who called to the house, sent Mass cards, emails, texts of sympathy or offered their support to our family, we sincerely thank you. For the people who attended the Church in Na Forbacha, Connemara, in person and online, we felt you with us, supporting us on the day. We deeply appreciate the neighbours who lined the road to welcome Mam back to Gracefield, Portarlington and to those neighbours, friends and work colleagues who stood alongside us at the graveyard, it brought us great comfort.

A special thank you to Fr. Michael Brennan, Barna/Na Forbacha Parish for celebrating a very meaningful funeral mass for Lily incorporating all the people and music she loved so very much. Also, we thank Fr. Tom Dooley, Portarlington, for his prayers at the graveside. We offer our thanks to Jim Sullivan Undertakers, Borrisokane, for the compassionate and professional guidance they gave us arranging Lily’s funeral.

To the wonderful, kind and dedicated family of staff at Áras Cois Fharraige in Spiddal, Co. Galway led by Matron Patricia Folan, thank you for extending a warm welcome to Lily. During Lily’s stay at the Áras, you provided her with a lovely home, warmth, comfort, and the highest standard of 24-hour nursing care. Lily felt appreciated, cared for, loved and sheltered. As a family we are so very grateful for your support for Lily and ourselves. In the final weeks in particular, your kindness and support gifted us so many precious days spent together, filled with love, some laughter and at all times peace. This will continue to bring us all great comfort in the coming weeks and months.

Lily was cared for by so many medical professionals and support workers both in the community and in hospitals in Dublin, Laois, and Galway in recent years that there are too many to mention. If you cared for Lily in any capacity, gave of your time, expertise, did your very best to help, our family is very grateful to you. Our thanks also to the Galway Community Hospice team.

We want to acknowledge Lily’s communities, neighbours and friends over the years, whether you offered a cup of tea, spent time together gardening, a lift to town or Mass, or a neighbourly knock on the window to say hello, your time and kindness  is very much appreciated.

To all of those who contributed in a positive way to Lily’s life, we want to sincerely thank you.

The Holy Sacrifice Mass will be offered for your intentions.

Lily’s Month's Mind Mass will be held in St. Michael’s Church, Portarlington, on Saturday, January 15th 2022, at 6.15pm.
