Passed away peacefully on the 5th of August, 2024.

As we lovingly remember Eric on this the months mind of his death, his loving wife Helen and all Eric’s family wish to thank most sincerely all those who sympathised and supported us on our recent bereavement.

We found great comfort in all the condolences and kind words we received through cards, letters, phone calls, text messages, floral tributes and on RIP.ie.

We wish to sincerely thank the following people, the doctors and nurses of the oncology team at U.H.L especially Mr. E Condon, Dr. Marian Conroy and the wonderful staff of the Milford Care Centre Limerick and the home care teams for the fantastic care of Eric during his illness and in his final days. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Raymond Piggot and all his staff, his good friend Mr. Ralph Keane and all at Ashdown Pharmacy Limerick. We wish to acknowledge greatly all Eric’s family, many friends and great neighbours who were so kind and supportive to Eric and gave him a lot of help on his journey.

A sincere thank you to all the people who helped and supported us throughout the days of the funeral and to the huge crowds who came to pay their respects to Eric by attending his reposal, requiem mass and committal service. Much appreciation to our great friend Canon Tommy Marrinan for his support, prayers and guidance, to Fr. Martin Downey and Fr. Michael Brennan who concelebrated Eric’s mass and also to sacristan Mary Cunningham for having all in the church organised for us. Sincere gratitude to Fergal, Moya and Robert Connaire for organising and providing the amazing music for the ceremony, to Niall Finnegan for his tribute of Down The River Walk and to Kevin for the streaming of the funeral mass. We would like to thank all those who provided food and refreshments to our homes, John and Mary of Sullivans Hotel Gort and to Eric’s good friend Brian Harrington and his team at the Raddison Blu Hotel Limerick for the beautiful meal which was served after the funeral. Much appreciation to the team at Seomra Ciúin within Gort Town Hall for all their help and stewarding for the reposal and to the many relatives and friends who shouldered his coffin from the Square to the old family homestead.

A final word of thanks to all Shane’s colleagues in the funeral industry for the great care, empathy and support shown to our family and to Eric, especially Robert, Anne and Ronan of Conneely’s Funeral Directors Galway, Sean and Mike of Mullins Brothers Funeral Directors Gort, Sean Cleary, all the kind staff at Shannon Crematorium and Enda who prepared Eric’s final resting place in Labane cemetery.

“ Finally to Eric, you will forever be in our hearts, rest in peace”

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our sincere gratitude. A Mass will be said for your intentions.

Eric’s ashes will be interred with his beloved parent’s Mai and Johnny in Labane Cemetery prior to his Month's Mind Mass which will take place on Saturday, September 14th at 6.30pm in St. Colman’s Church, Gort.
