Francis’s first anniversary will take place on 6th November 2023.
His wife Annie (Ina) and family Patrick, Mary, Anne, Michael, Francis and Deirdre, along with their families, wish to express their sincere gratitude to all those who sympathised with us on the death of Francis, our Husband, Father and Grandfather.
Special thanks to Fr Brendan O’Sullivan for his many home visits to Francis and for visiting Francis in Hospital and for the funeral Mass to celebrate Francis’s life. Thanks too to Fr Aidan Ryan and Fr Liam Farrell for concelebrating the funeral Mass. A special thanks to the Ballinahown Parish Choir, led by Maria Maloney and soloist Michaela Healy for the beautiful music throughout the Mass.

Thank you very much to Dr Graham Kearon, the nurses and administrative staff at the Athlone Primary Care Centre for the care provided to Francis during his last few years. Your kindness and assistance when we needed it is greatly appreciated. Thanks also to the Public Health Nurses in the Clonbrusk Primary Care Centre for looking after Francis in his home over the last two years. To the Carers who took care of Francis at home, we thank you for all your kindness and work with Francis.
Thank you very much to the doctors and nurses in the Emergency Department and on the Medical Ward of the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore. For the care provided to Francis during his last few days, your kindness and care to Francis is much appreciated, with a special word of thanks to nurses Annemarie and Rachel.
To Gussy Claffey and all the family friends who dug the grave, thank you. To all the people who queued for hours in Moate for Francis’s reposing, thank you. Your condolences and kind words about Francis were lovely for the family to hear.
The whole family will always appreciate the kindness, thoughtfulness and ongoing support of all their extended family, neighbours, relatives and friends during the past year. For all the Mass cards, flowers, phone calls, messages on RIP.ie and visits to our homes. A special thanks to family friends and neighbours who provided beautiful dinners and refreshments to the family on our saddest days. Thanks to Paddy McCaul and the team in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel for the lovely meal after the burial in Clonmacnoise.
To all the people living abroad who could not travel to be with us in person, we thank you for joining us for the funeral Mass on the internet. To all the family and our friends who travelled from all parts of Ireland to be with us over the days of Francis’s funeral, we thank you most sincerely, your effort and support is greatly appreciated.
Thanks too to all who came to Francis’s months mind Mass and joined us afterwards to remember Francis.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for your support and kindness shown to the family. The Holy sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.
Francis’s first anniversary Mass will be celebrated in St. Colmcille’s Church, Ballinahown on Sunday 12th November at 11.30am.
Francis, Daddy, Grandad, we miss you so much and you are always in our thoughts and prayers. We know you are with David and Baby MaryKate in Heaven looking down on us all.
