The family of the late Gabriel Clancy of Clarkemount Avenue, Clonmore, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath and late of Ardcarne/Keadue, Co. Roscommon and Booterstown, Co. Dublin, would like to thank all those who sympathised with them on their loss, including neighbours, relatives, friends, carers and the wider community; those who sent flowers, Mass cards, cards of sympathy and messages of condolence; those who travelled long distances, called to the house, attended the reposing, rosary, removal, requiem Mass and burial in Kilronan Cemetery; the staff, teachers and board of management of Mullingar Community College and the LWETB; Mullingar Shamrocks and the GAA for their support, guard of honour and acknowledgement of Gabriel's work with them over the years; all those who participated in the requiem Mass, in particular, chief celebrant Padre Ignazio (Rome), co-celebrants Father Patrick Moore (Castlepollard) and Father Martin Kilmurray (Carmelite Order); organist Will Woods, and soloist Paula Canning, who made the music we chose come alive in his memory; all the staff of Mullingar Parish/Cathedral of Christ the King; Gilsenan's Funeral Directors, including Con and Joan Gilsenan and Tony Quinn, for their sensitive and professional handling of arrangements; Tommie Shivnan (Ballyfarnon) for taking care of all the local arrangements at Kilronan Cemetery; the gravediggers who prepared Gabriel's final resting place; Fr. Cathal Faughnan (Keadue) who presided over the burial, and Fr. Brendan McDonagh (Cootehall) who conducted the Month's Mind Mass at St. Patrick's Church, Crossna.
We would also like to express our thanks and appreciation to those that came to Gabriel's aid on that morning - to An Garda Síochána, to first responder and paramedic crew, to Fr. Normal Allred (Mullingar Parish), the coroner Mr. Raymond Mahon and Con Gilsenan.
A sincere thank you to Dr. Anne McGarry (Mullingar) and the doctors, matron, nurses and staff of Luke's Hospital, Mullingar General Hospital, the Beacon Hospital and St. James's Hospital who cared for Gabriel in his later years.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, we trust this acknowledgement to be accepted by all with our sincere appreciation and gratitude.
