In Loving Memory of George Belton
18 College Park, Longford & Ardagh, Co. Longford
Died 16th May 2024, following a tragic workplace accident in Ballymahon, Co. Longford
On the First Anniversary of George’s untimely passing, his heartbroken wife Pauline, sons Simon, Keith, and Warren, and his grandchildren Sorcha, Chloe, and Paddy, his brothers and sisters—Robert, Pat, Anne, John, Gerard, Catherine, Oliver, and Geri—his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, his nieces and nephews, the extended Coady family, and Keith’s partner Sinead, wish to express our deepest thanks and appreciation to all who have supported us through this devastating time.
We are especially grateful to the emergency services, including the Gardaí, first responders, and fire brigade, who attended the scene with such care and dedication. Our heartfelt thanks also go to George’s work colleagues and friends, whose respect and presence with him during his final moments brought great comfort.
We sincerely thank Martin Glennon, Funeral Director, for his compassion and presence at the scene, and Fr. Liam Murray and Fr. Vinny Connaughton, who attended to George at the scene of the accident. We also thank the priests who concelebrated George’s Funeral Mass in Ardagh, along with our own parish priest, Fr. Vinny Connaughton: Fr. Charlie Healy, Fr. Brendan O’Sullivan, Fr. James McKiernan, Fr. Simon Cadam, and Fr. Brian Brennan—each of whom honoured George’s life with reverence, care, and prayer.
We also thank Fr. Michael McGrath and Fr. Pat Kiernan for calling to our home and keeping us in their prayers during this time.
Special thanks to the sacristan, Anne Farrell, and to Paul Gurney, Paul Hennessy, and Janice Belton for the beautiful ceremony music during George’s Funeral Mass.
We extend our gratitude to Hanly Brothers, along with Lough Rynn Castle, Kilronan Castle, and Wincove Construction, for their powerful and respectful guard of honour at George’s funeral. Our sincere thanks also to the past and present staff of Grafter’s Hair Company, who joined in tribute with a moving guard of honour.
We especially wish to thank Paschal Lyons, Funeral Director, Ardagh, and family friend, along with Laddie Keena, for their professionalism and support throughout the time of George’s funeral and Mass, and for their continued kindness since. We are equally grateful to Ray McGonigle at McGonigle Funeral Services for his expert work and dedication during this difficult time.
We would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to our wonderful neighbours and friends. Your presence, kindness, and constant support over the past year have carried us through this unbearable loss. To those who called to our home, sent messages and notes of comfort, made phone calls, and who continue to visit or check in with us—we are truly and deeply grateful.
To all who attended George’s removal at Glennon’s Funeral Home, and to those who joined us at George’s Funeral Mass in St. Brigid’s Church, Ardagh, we are so grateful. Your presence gave us great strength. We also thank Glennon’s Funeral Home for their excellent service to us and our family.
Finally, to our families—the Belton and the Coady families—and Pauline and George’s close friends, thank you for your unwavering love, strength, and support over the past twelve months.
George’s 1st Anniversary Mass will be celebrated in St. Brigid’s Church, Ardagh Village, on Sunday, 18th May at 11:30am.
All are welcome.
Forever in our hearts.
