Gillian’s husband Shane, son John, daughters Aoife & Grace, her parents Kevin & Vena, sisters Rhona & Clodagh, brother Brian & all her family would like to express their endless gratitude for the overwhelming support shown throughout Gillian’s illness, at the time of her sad passing & during the weeks since.
Thank you to the many people who visited the funeral home & those who attended Gillian’s removal, funeral Mass & burial, most especially those who travelled long distances. Thank you to those who sent Mass cards & floral tributes, those who participated in Guards of Honour, those who conveyed such warm wishes & joyful memories online, those who phoned or text & all those who couldn’t be present but joined us via the church webcam.
Our most sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses & caring staff of St. Vincent’s Hospital for their wonderful care & their kindness to us all, most especially during Gillian’s final week. Thank you to Dr Barbara Dooley & the crew at Bradshaw’s Lane Surgery, to the team from Wicklow Hospice, to Arklow Cancer Support, to the carers from Bluebird Care & to the kind & helpful staff of Adrian Dunne Pharmacy.
Very special thanks to Gillian’s dear friend Fr. Martin Cosgrove for your constant guidance & support & for celebrating Gillian’s life so beautifully, to Fr Martin Jose for your prayers & comforting words & to Gillian’s friends from Lír Female Ensemble for such fabulous music.
To our own extended families, our colleagues, neighbours & friends, your support will never be forgotten. To Gillian’s dear friends, we thank you for the many years of companionship, adventure, laughter & fun you brought to her life.
Thank you to the management and staff of the Arklow Bay Hotel, The Old Ship & so many others for their hospitality, both in the funeral home and in Gillian’s home on her last night there. Thanks also to Jason & Tom for tending to the grave & to all at John Sweeney and Sons Funeral Directors for their sensitive assistance and professionalism.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, we trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted by all as a token of our sincere appreciation. While we knew that Gillian was adored by many, we will be forever carried & comforted by the endless expressions of warmth & good will that surrounds her memory & those she loved most.
Gillian’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated on Sunday 9th February at 11.30am in St. Mary & Peter’s Church. Those who cannot attend are welcome to join via webcam;
