Seamus (James Francis) Mc Phillips

Died: 04.11.2023

Tina, wife of the late Seamus Mc Phillips, his daughters Alison, Caireen, Margaret, Ruth and the entire family circle would like to express their deep gratitude to all who offered condolences, support and sympathy on their recent sad bereavement of a beloved husband, father and grandfather.

To those who sent cards and messages of sympathy, sent floral tributes or donations in lieu of flowers to Macmillan Cancer Support, provided food and refreshments, please be assured that your kindness is very much appreciated.

Thank you to the extremely large number of people who travelled from near and far to attend the wake and funeral, your presence was a comfort to our family at this difficult time and it showed how Seamus touched the lives of so many people in countless ways.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to those who shared precious memories and stories of Seamus and the positive impact Seamus had on so many others.

Many thanks to the staff and students of St. Cecilia’s College for your guard of honour at St. Columba’s Church, Longtower on the day of Seamus’ funeral.

A special thank you goes out to relatives who helped at the wake, family friends, former colleagues and kind neighbours for all the support at the wake and funeral.

To Father Mongan, Father O’ Donnell, Father Gormley, Father Mc Caughey and Monsignor Mc Canny who visited our home and for the comforting prayers at that time. Sincere gratitude to Father Mongan for the beautiful words spoken about Seamus at his funeral and to Father O’ Donnell and Father Gormley co-celebrants.

To the staff in A&E and on Ward 26, Altnagelvin hospital for the care shown to Seamus during his short stay in hospital and to Father Mc Faul who attended Seamus in hospital.

Thank you to the team at Quayside Medical Practice for the care and support to Seamus during his short illness.

The family’s deep gratitude goes to the choirs and soloists, Francesca Kelly and Ruth McPhillips, under the direction of Maurice Kelly who provided the beautiful music and singing at Seamus’ Funeral Mass. Seamus loved to sing and this was a fitting tribute to his memory.

Deepest appreciation to Bradley & Mc Laughlin Funeral Directors for the professional, dignified and respectful manner in which Seamus’ funeral was carried out as well as the support provided to us as a family.

As it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of the family’s thanks and appreciation. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.

Seamus’ Month’s Mind Mass will take place on Saturday, 2nd December, at 6pm in St. Columba’s Church, Longtower. All welcome.
