James (Jess) Walsh

 James (Jess) Walsh

Ballinhassig, Cork / Ballygarvan, Cork

In loving memory of James (Jess) Walsh whose first anniversary occurs on 11th June, 2025.  Deeply loved, sadly missed and always remembered by his heartbroken wife Paula, son David, daughter Kelly and extended family.

We are so grateful to all who attended the funeral, called to the house, sent cards, letters and flowers, donated to Cancer Services, Cork University Hospital and took the time to share precious memories of Jess on the online condolences.  It has been so comforting.

Thank you to Fr Jim O’Donoghue and Deacon John Guirey – each of whom honoured Jess’ life, making the mass so very special.  Thank you to O’Connor’s Undertakers, and particularly Michael Desmond, for their professionalism, care and guidance.  Thanks to Lorraine Florish for singing so beautifully and everyone who participated in the mass.  We also wish to sincerely thank his colleagues and friends from Gilead and Yves Rocher for their respectful and heartfelt guard of honour.  Jess would have been so moved.

A special word of thanks to Mary O’Halloran and the Ballinhassig Community Development Association for organising the refreshments in the hall.  Our deep appreciation also goes to everyone who provided food and supported us in countless ways to cater at home.

We are especially grateful to everyone for the excellent care given to Jess over the three years of his illness.  A special thank you to Professor Derek Power, Professor Paul Redmond, Dr Martin Higgins and all the staff at Cork University Hospital; also Dr Máire O’Callaghan, Dr Fiona O’Mahony and all the staff of Innishannon Medical Centre.  Your compassion meant more than words can express.

Heartfelt thanks to our families, neighbours and wonderful friends for your love and continued support during a very difficult time.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgment as a token of our sincere appreciation. We will be forever grateful for your support and kindness.

Jess will be remembered at his first anniversary mass on Saturday, 7 June at 7.30 pm at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Ballyheada.

Forever Young, Forever Loved, Forever Missed.
