James O'Connor

 James O'Connor

Greenore, Louth / Dundalk, Louth

James O’Connor, aged 42 years, was laid to rest in his native Lordship on 10th June 2025. His tragic loss has struck a devastating blow to his beloved partner Laura, his son James, his daughters Millie and Lucy, his heartbroken family, together with Laura’s family and his extended family and friends.

He was a very hardworking man - away from home just after dawn and back home after dusk because of his bricklaying business. He enjoyed music, travelling, reading, Gaelic football, rugby, boxing and soccer. He had a great sense of humour and quick wit and entertained family and friends with his wonderful talent for mimicry. Calmness was his special gift and he always managed to settle any difficult situation whether personal or otherwise with common sense and tolerance.

Loving and gentle - his last act was typical of his wonderful generosity. His organ donations have given a new life to three people. His heart donation to Children’s Heart will enable further research into paediatric cardiology which was very important to him.

James’ Month Mind took place in St. Mary’s Church, Lordship on Friday, 11th July at 7pm with a very large attendance.

We, his family, would like to firstly thank the wonderful, caring & professional staff in Craigavon Hospital ICU Unit - the medical care that James received was absolutely first class. We would also like to mention the organ donation nurses for their sensitivity and caring nature.

Secondly, our very large circle of family, friends, local restaurants and wonderful neighbours for their support, generosity and care during this terrible time. In particular, we would like to thank Paul White (A91) for his beautiful food which sustained both ourselves and visitors during the wake.

We want to express our deep appreciation to  Fr.  Garrett Campbell for his kindness, understanding and lovely presence during our time of grief.

We really appreciate everyone who visited the house; those who donated to Children’s Heart.ie and Brain Injury; those who sent Mass Cards, letters, flowers, text messages and expressions of sympathy. Your kindness and support really helped during this dreadful time.

Our sincere gratitude to Quinns Funeral Directors for their empathy, advice and professionalism.

May James be re-united with his Dad and may his gentle soul rest in peace.
