Peacefully at The Beaumont Hospital, Dublin
on Tuesday 30th March 2021.
As Joanne's First Anniversary approaches, her husband Chris, her girls Yvie and Leah, her parents Mary and Michael, parents-in-law Barbara and Stephen, brothers Anthony, Paul, David and Shane, brother-in-law Jonathan, sisters-in-law Rebecca, Marese, Nicola and Sarah and all our families wish to express our deepest gratitude to all who supported us on the sad loss of our beloved Joanne.
To all who offered their sympathies and messages of condolence by texts, letters, phone calls, Mass/Sympathy Cards and online through RIP.ie, Midwest Radio and Facebook messages, your words were a great source of comfort and consolation to us. A special word of thanks to all our extended families, relatives, friends and neighbours who called to our homes in Banada and Dundalk bringing food and providing support and kindness during those difficult days.
Joanne's medical needs during her illness was in the hands of the Specialists, Doctors, Nurses and Staff of Beaumont Hospital in Dublin and Sligo University Hospital, the Doctors and Care Team in Blackrock Medical Centre in Dundalk, the Palliative Care Team based in Drogheda and McQuillians Pharmacy in Blackrock, Dundalk. Joanne was cared for by all of you with kindness and compassion and for that we express our deepest gratitude.
To Michael, Nancy and Amanda Coen, our sincere thanks for the care and professionalism with which you organised Joanne's funeral arrangements. Your help and guidance to her family was deeply appreciated.
Joanne's funeral route took us from Coen's Funeral Home in Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo to St. Attracta's Church in Tourlestrane and following Mass to her resting place in Kilmactigue Cemetery. Our thanks to the stewards on the day for your work at the church and cemetery. Words cannot express how deeply grateful we are to all the people who stood as a mark of respect along the entire route, many holding candles and flowers. It was truly an emotional journey and we felt your support and solidarity with us all the way.
Our deepest thanks to Fr. John Glynn for your guidance, support and kindness with the preparation of Joanne's Funeral Mass and to Fr. Tom Quinn, your presence at the celebration of her Mass was much appreciated. We were coping with the severe restrictions of Covid at the time which prevented so many people from attending Joanne's funeral Mass. Despite the small numbers allowed in the church, her funeral Mass was a beautiful celebration of her life. When her children, nieces and nephews sang one of her favourite songs "A Million Dreams", as a Communion Reflection, she would have been smiling! A sincere word of thanks to Brendan Nugent of Midwest Radio who ensured that huge numbers of people could join us online from around the world for the celebration of Joanne's Mass.
To the gravediggers, Michael Murphy and his son Conor, our deepest thanks for the special care you took in preparing Joanne's Final Resting Place in Kilmactigue Cemetery.
Our thanks to all those who donated to The Beaumont Hospital Foundation and to Brain Tumour Ireland with a very special word of thanks to St. Oliver's Primary School in Blackrock, Dundalk, where Yvie and Leah attend school. Staff and pupils organised a non-uniform day in June '21 and all the money from the event was forwarded to The Beaumont Foundaton. All donations were given in Joanne's memory and will benefit patient care and treatment in the future.
It is not possible to thank everyone individually, so to all of you who helped and supported us in any way, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our deep appreciation.
We wish to mention the wonderful support we received during Joanne's illness since September 2018 and over this past year with a special word of thanks for the support her girls and Chris received from their school, friends and his work colleagues in Dundalk. An incredible number of people have reached out and supported us in so many ways during this difficult and sad time in our lives, but be assured, your love and kindness have helped to ease the sadness of our loss and make it more bearable.
The Holy Sacrifice of The Mass will be celebrated for your intentions as a token of our deep appreciation.
