On this special day in our beloved John's calendar, and on reflection after the first anniversary of his death (16th September 2022), his wife Ruth, children Sarah, Andrew and Caroline, and the extended family wish to express our heartfelt appreciation to all who supported us through our grief. Sincere gratitude to all who attended the removal and funeral service, sent letters, messages, cards and online condolences from all over the world. These captured his true essence as a person and it gave us great comfort to know how many people have such special memories of John.
Thank you to Midleton College for their touching contributions to honour John on his last visit to the school, for the choir's singing and the Guard of Honour. Dr Sexton's organ music was uplifting just as John had requested.
A special thank you to Very Rev Susan Green, and Hyde Funeral Directors for your compassion and professionalism as you guided us through the funeral journey.
Midleton Rugby Club's involvement over the two days will always be remembered, as it fittingly reflected memorable sporting times spent together . We are so grateful to Brookfield Care Centre and St Luke's Home, Cork, who cared so well for John during his final years. A special mention to his loyal friends whose visits always brightened up his day.
Please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our gratitude to all who have shared many treasured memories and supported us in the loss of a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
"There are special people in our lives who never leave us, even after they are gone".
