The family of the late John Joseph Hanniffy of Lackabeg, Ballinahowen, Offaly / Athlone, Co Westmeath would like to acknowledge the many expressions of sympathy and gestures of kindness shown to us following our sudden and tragic loss.
To our extended families, our many friends, neighbours, work colleagues and all those who visited our home, attended the wake and funeral service, we offer our heartfelt thanks. Also to all those who lined the roads to pay their respects as we brought John on his final journeys, we thank you for your presence as it gave us great strength.
We greatly appreciate all the Mass cards, telephone calls, texts, emails and hand written letters and all those who continue to find ways to support us during these uncertain times.
We wish to thank most sincerely Fr Brendan O’Sullivan p.p for his prayerful funeral Mass for John, also for his spiritual guidance, friendship and continued support during this time.
To those who administered first aid, the National Ambulance Service, the crew of Air Corps 112 (Air ambulance), the Gardaí and the fire service we thank you most sincerely.
We thank Gussie Claffey and all the grave diggers. To those who made tea, provided sandwiches and dinners, it was extremely generous and very much appreciated.
To Joe Grennan of Grennan funeral directors, we thank you for your sensitive and professional handling of the arrangements.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our deepest gratitude to those who helped in any way, your contribution has made our loss more bearable. The holy sacrifice of Mass will be offered for your intentions.
We thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new
We thought about you yesterday and days before that too
We think of you in silence, we often speak your name
All we have are memories and your picture in a frame
Your memory is our keepsake with which we will never part
God has you in his keeping, we have you in our hearts
Rest in Peace John
