DAVOREN
Died 30th December 2020
Michael, Liz and all the Davoren Family would like to thank most sincerely everyone who shared with us the heartbreak of Luke’s death. We thank relatives, friends, and neighbours who supported us with kind words and deeds. Those who brought a continuous supply of food to the house over the weeks. Those who sent Mass cards, lit candles, and offered prayers of support. The Communities of the Little Sisters of the Poor, The Poor Clare Sisters in Ennis and Galway, and the Monks of Glenstal and Roscrea who included Luke and us in their daily prayers.
We would like to thank all those who helped to find Luke. The Gardai, RNLI, Civil Defence and the wonderful volunteers from Oranmore/Maree Search and Rescue who gave their time to search for Luke and selflessly continue to search for others lost in the bay. To those who travelled from all around the country many times. We thank the IFA for their help and support in co-ordinating members to assist. We thank all who sent touching online condolences, the College and School Friends who sent letters with fond memories. Our sincere appreciation to those who lined the roads as Luke was making his final journey. Our thanks to the Altar Society who prepared Noughaval Church so beautifully. And a special word of thanks to Fr Ned Crosby who celebrated Mass with us as Luke’s farewell. To Cannon Michael Brockie for his contribution to the liturgy, and to Fr Clinton PP for his support throughout. We thank Michael Cusack GAA club members and Clare Co. Council staff who formed the guard of honour. To our wonderful neighbours thank you for the dignity and care in preparing Luke’s final resting place in Kilcorney. We would also like to thank those who generously donated to the charity Oranmore Maree Search and Rescue.
What could anybody do for us as we lived our worst nightmare? You the people of the North Clare answered that question. You wrapped us in a cloak of loving support, you coordinated daily searches and you assured us that you would not give up until Luke was found. You shared our suffering. You fed us, both physically and spiritually. Our grief became your grief, you shared our load, this is the essence of a community at its best.
Since it is impossible to thank you individually, we beg you accept these words as our deepest and most sincere thanks to each of you from the bottom of our hearts. Mass will be offered for you intentions.
Month’s Mind Mass for Luke will be celebrated from Glenstal Abbey on Saturday 20th March at 12:10pm. Livestream available on: https://glenstal.com/abbey/webcam/
May He Rest in Peace
