Acknowledgement and First Anniversary

Remembering Máiread Fernane, Caherslee and formerly of Rock Street who passed away

July 15th, 2023

We, Máiread’s husband Tim Guiheen, her children Francisse and Ray Walsh together with our extended families wish to thank everyone who has supported us since Máiread’s unexpected passing last July.

Dr. Eamon and Margaret Shanahan, together with their staff at Farranfore Medical Centre, Bon Secours Hospital the First Responders, Kerry Ambulance Service, A & E staff, Dr. Mary Buckley, her team and all the ancillary staff in University Hospital Kerry, for your care, professionalism and kindness our sincere thanks and appreciation.

Mr. Graham Gleasure and staff at The Gleasure Funeral Home, for your empathy and professionalism as you guided us through those difficult days, thank you.

To all those who sympathised by card, online, in person at Gleasure’s or Our Lady and St. Brendan’s Church - your support was deeply appreciated. Donations to Kerry Hospice were gratefully received by them. So many friends, old and new, representatives from so many organisations who became friends throughout Máíread’s life. Sharing memories even in those circumstances lifted our spirits, Míle Buíochas.

The celebration of Máíread’s life at her final Mass was incredibly important to us, for ourselves and on her behalf. Fr. Padraig Walsh, Nora Fitzgerald, Sacristan, musicians Aine Hurley, Noel McAuliffe, Leonard Casey, singer Sharon Walsh, Billy Ryle, our family and friends, your participation made it more than the sum of its parts, thank you.

Anne Marie and Terry Healy together with the staff of Austin Stack’s Clubhouse for their hospitality after the Funeral. Liam and Shane Lynch, Siobhan Power, and the membership of the Stack’s club, you all did her proud. She would have expected no less of any of you.

To the Soroptimist’s and Kerry Hospice Foundation, thank you for your presence outside the church. Máiread was shouldered on her final journey to St. John’s Cemetery by members of Austin Stack’s with a Guard of Honour from her beloved club.

Máiread is remembered with love by her husband Tim, her daughter Francisse, son Ray, grandchildren Rachel, Jennifer, Ethan, Nathan, sister Marie, brother Jackie, daughter in law Sharon, Tim’s family Susan, Tim, Aisling, the extended members of the Fernane, Walsh and Guiheen families.
