As we approach his first anniversary, we Mark’s family, would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has helped, supported and comforted us since Mark’s tragic accident and his death on 4th Sept 2021.
We appreciate and have taken great comfort in the heartfelt words of sympathy conveyed to us by way of messages online, phone calls, cards and letters. Our appreciation also to all those who sent flowers and to those who donated so generously to Embrace Farm Accident Support Network in his memory. There is great consolation in knowing that Mark was so well liked and respected by so many within our community and beyond. We appreciate the honour bestowed on Mark by the introduction of the Mark Hargadon Memorial Cup by Ballymote St. Patricks Day Parade Committee.
Our deepest gratitude to those who came to our aid when Mark had his accident, his loyal friends, the members of the Ambulance service who responded so quickly and the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of A&E, ICU and Orthopaedic Departments of Sligo University Hospital who took such good care of him and who tried so hard to save him. We will forever remember and be grateful for what you did for Mark and for us.
We thank devoted family, friends and kind neighbours who took care of us during those terrible days. To those who provided food, helped in our home and who thought of and did whatever had to be done when we ourselves couldn’t think, we sincerely thank you. Our heartfelt appreciation to those who have continued to support us in so many ways. Your unwavering help and kindness makes our terrible loss more bearable.
We are so grateful to all the members of our community who lined the streets and walked with Mark to his home on Monday evening, it was such an amazing tribute to him. Our thanks also to his wonderful work colleagues and all those who knew him through his work at Aurivo, to the members of Macra na Feirme, our neighbours, friends, relatives and all those who formed guards of honour and walked with him each day, also to an Garda Siochana who escorted Mark on his final journey. Our thanks also to the Business people of Ballymote who closed their premises and whose staff formed guards of honour as a mark of respect to Mark as his funeral cortege passed by.
We thank all those who called to our home, came to the funeral home and attended his funeral Mass and burial, especially those who travelled long distances. Your presence has been a great consolation to us. We remember also those who joined the Mass on the live stream and appreciate their messages of condolence.
A special word of thanks to Fr. James whose prayers, kindness and comforting support will always be remembered. His celebration of Mark’s funeral Mass was a fitting tribute to him and a source of great consolation to us all and for which we are very grateful. A sincere thank you to Fr Joe and Fr Vincent for all their kindness and for concelebrating the Mass. Our appreciation also to Fr. Jim and Fr. Pat for their thoughtfulness and prayers.
Our sincere appreciation to Mary Frain for her kindness and help and to Dolores Taheny and Tom Gallagher for the beautiful music and singing. Our thanks also to all those who participated in his Mass and to the sacristan and ushers for their help.
A sincere thank you to Michael Perry, who assisted by Tommy and Dara carried out all of Mark’s funeral arrangements in such a sensitive and caring way. We will always be grateful for their empathy and professionalism.
Our heartfelt appreciation to the friends, work colleagues and relatives who helped carry Mark’s coffin. A very special thanks to those who prepared his final resting place with such thoughtfulness, love and care. Your kindness and willingness to help will never be forgotten.
We are thankful to Patrick and his staff of the Coach House Hotel for their hospitality and to Garda Mick O’Shea, Garda Tommy O’Connor and Garda David McDonagh for their sensitivity, kindness and help.
We would also like to thank all those who attended Mark’s Months Mind Mass, your presence in such large numbers was very much appreciated.
As it would be impossible to thank you all individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our sincere gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.
Mark’s Anniversary Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph’s Church, Doo on Sunday 4th September at 10am.
