 Martin Cullen

Tubbercurry, Sligo

Acknowledgment and first anniversary of Martin Cullen, Tubbercurry, 7th July 2023

Rachel would like to express her heartfelt gratitude to friends, family and everyone who offered support and sympathised following the sad loss of her brother Martin last year.  She would like to show her sincere appreciation to all those who attended his reposing the night before the funeral in the Maye household and to those who attended Martin’s funeral Mass.  Thank you to all who sent Mass cards, flowers, online tributes, donations to the suggested charities and to those who shared their happy memories of Martin.

She would particularly like to thank Fr Vincent Sherlock and soloist Clíodhna Henry for a beautiful ceremony which was a fitting remembrance of his life. A special acknowledgement also to the guard of honour around Gallagher House on the funeral procession to Rhue Graveyard.

Rachel would like to give a special thank you to their neighbours the Maye family, who were an unwavering presence and support during both the good and difficult times of Martin’s life.  It was such a thoughtful and beautiful gesture of friendship that Martin was able to spend one last Saturday night in their home the night before the funeral.  It was very appropriate that it was his lifelong friend Christina who so beautifully delivered Martin’s eulogy.

Finally, thank you to all the staff in 3, Lime Walk, Tubbercurry who cared for Martin with such compassion, kindness and dedication during his illness. Thank you also to the staff, past & present at Shalmon, Gallagher House, Mulholland House and to Paul & Beatrice Gallagher who over the years helped, encouraged and supported Martin to lead an independent, fulfilled and happy life.

Martin’s Anniversary Mass will be celebrated on Saturday July 29th 7 pm
in The Church of St John the Evangelist.
