His wife, Mary and family Fidelma, Yvonne, Paul, Olivia, Esther, Emer, Edel, Aidan, Dervilla, Orlaith and Shane, daughters–in-law, sons-in-Law, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins and extended family would like to acknowledge the kindness, compassion and the many expressions of sympathy on the passing of a treasured and dearly beloved husband, father and grandfather, brother and wonderful friend to many.
We offer our heartfelt thanks to the many families, neighbours, colleagues, business associates, customers and sympathisers who visited our home, attended the wake, Funeral Mass and burial and who showed their love and support for us at this sad and difficult time. For those who telephoned, travelled long distances, sent floral tributes, cards, letters, messages of condolences and expressions of fond remembrance, as well as those who made charitable donations to the Alpha One Foundation and Benbulben COPD, we are truly grateful.
A heartfelt thanks to our kind neighbours, extended family and friends who offered support and helped tirelessly in the house and with parking arrangements outside over the days and nights of Martin’s wake and Funeral, and those who brought food and gifts, your kindness, compassion and help was deeply appreciated and will never be forgotten.
Thank you to Yeats Tavern for providing food for the Wake and to the staff at the Clayton Hotel for a lovely meal following the Funeral.
We would like to acknowledge and thank all those who looked after Martin during his illness – the doctors and nurses of the Medicentre, Sligo University Hospital, the Alpha One Foundation in Beaumont Hospital, staff of Higgins Pharmacy and the Ambulance staff.
Our sincere thanks to Fr. Hever, Fr. McHugh and Fr. Murray who concelebrated Martin’s Funeral Mass and who continue to comfort the Furey family. A special word of thanks to the Chaplains at SUH and Fr. Hever for their comfort to Martin in his final days. Thanks to Siobhan Flynn, Ray Cotter and Thomas Nolan for the beautiful singing and music, also to the readers, altar servers, Eucharistic Ministers, the sacristan and florist.
We wish to sincerely thank our Funeral director, Seamus Feehily and Son for their kindness and professionalism in the handling of arrangements and the gravediggers for their careful preparation of Martins final resting place.
Thank you to our friends from the Benbulben COPD and Alpha One Support groups for their help, support and encouragement to Martin for many years.
We thank the Drumcliffe-Rosses Point Ladies GAA team for their guard of honour at the Church and the members of our Driving team (past and present) for their constant support and kindness and for their guard of honour with the fleet of coaches and buses of which Martin was so proud.
To those who helped in any way, your contribution made our loss more bearable. As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a sincere expression of our deepest gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.
We have very special and treasured memories of Martin and will miss him dearly. We turn each page of life lovingly and tenderly until we meet again.
The Month's Memory Mass for Martin Furey will be held on Friday 25th January 2019 at 7pm in St. Colmcille's Church, Rathcormac, Co. Sligo.
