Martin (Mattie) O'Donohue

 Martin (Mattie) O'Donohue

Gort, Galway / Clare

Martin's wife Mary (née Browne), sons Darragh & David and daughter Aoife, daughters-in-law Siobhán & Aoife and son-in-law Martin, grandchildren and extended family, would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the kindness, sympathy and support we received during our recent sad bereavement.

We wish to express our thanks and appreciation to our many friends, neighbours and relatives who travelled from near and far to attend his wake, funeral Mass and burial. We will be forever grateful to our wonderful friends and neighbours who were a constant support during those difficult days and to those who sent Mass and Sympathy Cards, posted condolences online, wrote letters and sent messages of support and were always there for us in those difficult days. Your kind and sincere words have given us comfort at this sad time on the passing of our dearest Mattie. Thank you also to those who made charitable donations to Gort Cancer Support.

A special word of thanks to Dr. Richard Joyce and all the staff of Gort Medical Centre and to Robert Coen and the staff of Gilmartin's Pharmacy Gort for their kindness and support over the years of Mattie's illness. Thanks must also go to Dr Chris Collins and team, UHG, Professor Maccon Keane and Dr Cronin, the staff of the Oncology unit and Our Lady of Knock Ward in the Galway Clinic who were all so kind and attentive to Mattie over the course of his treatment. A special mention to Joanne the Public Health Nurse based in Kinvara for her care throughout Mattie's illness.

Sincere thanks to Father Tommy Marrinan and Fr Pat Madden for the beautiful mass and funeral service and the choir at Tierneevin Church for their beautiful addition to the funeral mass. To our neighbours for the wonderful way they prepared Mattie's final resting place in Kilmacduagh, we are so grateful.

Special thanks to John and Melissa  Monaghan of Monaghan’s Funeral Home for their professional and helpful guidance.

Many thanks to Mary Cunniffe, John Sullivan and the staff of Sullivan's Hotel, Gort for the excellent food and service, their wonderful attention and care.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our sincere and genuine appreciation, gratitude and thanks.

Martin’s Months Mind Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, 14th October, at 7.30 pm in Tierneevin Church, H91 K5W0.
