 Mary Ellen O'Sullivan

Church Height, Adrigole, Cork

Acknowledgement & 1st Anniversary

Died 27th January 2021

As we lovingly remember Mary Ellen a cherished wife and mother on her 1st year away from home, we her family, husband Florence, children Susan, Pat and Jamie, her adored grandchildren Megan and Paddy, daughter in law Teresa and Aisling, brothers John and Murty and sister Imelda, brother in law Patrick, wish to extend our most sincere thanks for the many kind expressions of sympathy and support shown to us throughout Mary Ellen’s sad passing and in the time since.

Because of Covid restrictions it was sad and hard for us that many who would have liked to attend Mary Ellen’s funeral were unable to do so. To all of you that sent cards, flowers, telephoned/texted left condolences on RIP.ie, thank you for reaching out to us and supporting us in our time of need, we greatly appreciated all of these.

We would like to greatly acknowledge the practical and emotional support and the many gestures of kindness shown to us at the time of the funeral.  To our relatives, neighbours and friends who visited our home, brought food and refreshments and provided help and consolidation. We particularly appreciated those who have continued to support us over the past year.

We are forever grateful for the palliative care team that called to our home during Mary Ellen’s last few days and a very special family friend who gave so willing and unconditionally of her time to help us, without them and Dr Aisling Morris we would not have been able to care for Mary Ellen at home something that was hugely important to her and to us her family especially during a time when the impact of Covid and restrictions made things very difficult.

We are also grateful to Arthur Coakley of Coakleys funeral home for his kindness guidance and professionalism. Sincere thank you to all those who stood out on the road on the evening we brought Mary Ellen from Coakleys funeral home.  Especially thank you to Adrigole GAA club which was such a huge part of Mary Ellen’s life for the wonderful guard of honour that evening and the morning of her funeral as well as facilitating a book of condolence which contained such lovely words, messages and memories. It was much appreciated.

Special thanks also to Fr Martin Sheehan for celebrating such a beautiful funeral mass and facilitating the live streaming of same so that so many of you near and far could join us online the day of the funeral.

As it would be impossible to thank everybody individually, to everyone who helped us in any way we trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted by all as a token of our sincere appreciation. Thank you.

We miss you Mary Ellen, love you always.

Mary Ellen’s 1st anniversary Mass will be celebrated in St Fachtnas Church Adrigole on Saturday, 29th January, at 8 o'clock.

God saw you getting tired
A cure was not to be
So he put His arms around you
And whispered "Come to me."

With tearful eyes we watched you
And saw you pass away
Although we loved you dearly
We couldn't make you stay.

Your golden heart stopped beating
Hard working hands at rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
