 Mary Guthrie
(née McCarthy)

Ballyvaughan, Clare / Cree, Clare

We wish to express our heartfelt thanks and sincere appreciation to all who sympathised with us on the recent sad loss of our beautiful and dearly loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Mary Guthrie (nee McCarthy)

We are deeply grateful to our neighbours and friends, both near and far, who sent Mass cards and messages of sympathy, phoned, texted and emailed us, and who shared their kind words and support online. Your thoughtfulness meant more to us than words can say.

Our sincere thanks to all who walked with us and accompanied Mammy on her final journey to her eternal resting place. We are truly grateful to everyone who helped us give her the warm and fitting celebration of life she so richly deserved.

We offer our special thanks to Fr. Des Forde, who came out of retirement to celebrate Mammy’s life, and to Fr. Richard Flanagan PP, who made this possible and assisted in such a beautiful and meaningful liturgy. We are forever grateful to all who travelled to be with us for the removal and Funeral Mass, and to those who could not attend but kept us in their thoughts and prayers — your support was felt and appreciated.

We would also like to thank the members of the choir, our sacristans Tom and Catherine, and Mary for the lovely flowers. Our thanks also to Laura for the photographs and booklets, and to James Nagle of Nagle’s Undertakers for his professionalism, care and sensitivity throughout. We are grateful too to the grave diggers for the respectful preparation of Mammy’s final resting place.  A special word of thanks to Joe and Sean, who sang so beautifully at Mammy’s graveside. It was a truly fitting and touching close to the service.

Sincere thanks to all who brought food and helped care for us during those days, with special mention to Elaine, Carmel and Sean.

We must also acknowledge the three wonderful ladies who cared for Mammy over the past number of years. We were truly blessed to have them in our lives. They looked after her with such kindness and compassion, preserving her dignity right to the end. To Zhenya (Jane), Finola and Noreen, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We are also very grateful to the staff of Ballyvaughan Medical Centre, especially Sheila and Eva, with whom Mammy always felt safe and assured. Special thanks as well to the Milford Hospice Home Care Team, particularly Eileen and Jacqueline — your kindness and care meant the world not only to Mammy, but to all of us.

It would be impossible to thank everyone individually, so please accept this acknowledgement as a small token of our deep appreciation to each and every person who supported us during this time. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has been offered for your intentions.

Mary’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated on Sunday, 1st March at 11:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Ballyvaughan.
