Mary Josephine Hanley

 Mary Josephine Hanley
(née Connaughton)

Polshask, Williamstown, Galway

The family of the late Mary Hanley wish to acknowledge the many expressions of sympathy and gestures of kindness shown to us following the recent sad loss of our beloved Mother, Granny, Great Granny and Sister.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to the many neighbours, relatives and friends who visited Mam’s home during her repose, providing emotional and practical support for us at this difficult time.

We would like to thank the many people who attended the funeral home on Saturday evening to pay their respects and all those who attended her Mass and burial on Sunday. Thank you to all the neighbours who stood outside their homes to say goodbye to Mam on her final journey, a lovely gesture and much appreciated by her family.

Thank you to everyone who brought food to the house, to the ladies on tea duty and the traffic management on both days. Your kindness and support is very much appreciated by all of us.  To those who telephoned, travelled long distances, sent texts, cards and messages of condolence on RIP as well as those who made charitable donations, we are truly grateful.

We would like to thank all the people who enquired about and called to see our dear Mam over the last number of years, especially her good friend who brought her the Ireland’s Own every week.

A special word of thanks to all who cared for Mam over the last number of years, The WestCare Home Care Team, Dr. Kasa and Una Finnegan, Tully’s Pharmacy, The Community Nurses Maggie, Joan and Nora.  The Galway Hospice and Irish Cancer Society, particularly the Community Palliative Care Team of Martina, Helen and Una whose professionalism, kindness and support allowed us to fulfil Mam’s wish to remain at home with her family over the last number of months and in her final days.

Thank you to Fr. Eugene O’Boyle, Fr. Tommy Commins, the readers, Eoin and the fabulous choir and all who contributed to the celebration of Mam’s life in the beautiful Mass. Thank you to Eamon Kirrane and Pat Conneran for their professional handling of the funeral arrangements. Thank you to the grave diggers who prepared Mams final resting place beside her beloved Husband Luke.  Thank you to the Management and staff of The Árd Ri House Hotel for the beautiful meal after the funeral.

As it is impossible to thank everyone individually, we ask that you accept this acknowledgement as a token of our sincere gratitude and that you remember Mam in your prayers.  The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.

Fold her O Jesus in Thine Arms and let her henceforth be a
messenger of love between our human hearts and thee.

Month’s mind Mass Saturday 11th February 7pm in St. Theresa’s Church, Williamstown.
